The Pacific and Eddy soundtrack is available now from Triple Down Records, as a 2xCD +  high-quality (192 kps) digital download for $15.00. Please note that when you order the soundtrack, you are ordering both formats, not one or the other.  Click here to buy the soundtrack from Triple Down Records.

The soundtrack for The Pacific & Eddy includes original music composed for the film by Kelli Scarr, as well as songs from Nikki Sudden (Swell Maps), The Jacobites, Epic Soundtracks, The Out Crowd and Pom Pom Diary.  Songs on the soundtrack by Epic include: "I Got To Be Free", "I Do Declare", and "House on the Hill".  According to the website, the movie will be out in art theaters in the first part of 2008 (please come to Chicago?) along with the DVD release.  It looks good, and it’s hard to top the soundtrack, so keep an eye out for it.

In other news, we want to wish Epic happy birthday today, and all our love to him and everybody who loved him.

The Pacific and EddyFor those of you in the San Diego area, The Pacific and Eddy will be premiering September 28th and 29th at the Pacific Gaslamp Theater. There will be an after-show party with free attendence for those with ticket stubs. The Pacific and Eddy features the music of Epic Soundtracks, and Nikki Sudden in the role of Silhouette. Click the poster for a larger version and more details.

Thanks to the Pacific and Eddy people for keeping us updated.  Please come to Chicago soon. :-)

The Pacific and Eddy

Apparently Epic Soundtracks’ music is featured on the soundtrack to the newly released film, “The Pacific and Eddy”. This independent film was just screened in Santa Barbara, and also features Nikki Sudden as “Silhouette”. I was aware that Nikki was in the film (it was filmed shortly before his death) but was very surprised to hear Epic’s music in the movie trailer.

Click here for the trailer, and you’ll find the music during the last half very beautiful, and very familiar.

If anybody’s seen the movie or has further information, please email or comment. Today is the first we have heard of this!

Site Updates

Hi all … some parts of the website are being updated right now, specifically the Photo Album and Video links.

In the coming days, photos from Epic’s 1995 European tour will be added to the photo album. These are generously being scanned by Russell Bassman (of Plush), who played bass guitar on the 1995 tour. A couple have been uploaded already, and there are more to come, if I can convince him to let me scan some of the funnier ones. :) Locations and photo credits will also be sorted out as needed.

European Tour 1995

Fans of Epic’s music will probably enjoy the beautiful sounds of two Plush mp3s available for download from Salon.com. You can download “I Sing Silence”, a sneak preview from the upcoming album, as well as “No Education”, from the Fed album.

Best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season to everybody. Be safe and take care.

The NoMen, a group who have released many covers of songs by The Television Personalities, Swell Maps, and Nikki Sudden, have some free MP3s available of their Epic Soundtracks covers on their website.

Click here to download covers of Epic’s “She Sleeps Alone”, “Meet Me On The Beach”, and “Nothing New Under The Sun.”

You can also go to the Topplers Records home page and use the menu on the left-hand side of the site to browse and download other cool stuff.

July 19 was Nikki Sudden’s birthday. He would have been 50 years old this year.

Below is a video from YouTube of the Swell Maps’ “Midget Submarines”. The boys look so young in this video. They were young.

You can also view the video for “Let’s Build A Car” on YouTube.

Everybody take a few minutes out from their day today and just rock out for a while!

Nikki Sudden, member of the Swell Maps, Jacobites, solo artist, writer, and brother of Epic Soundtracks, passed away in NYC on March 26, at the age of 49.

He had just finished up a new album, which is tentatively set for release in the fall of 2006. He had also been working for quite some time on his autobiography, which was apparently almost complete, and hopefully will also be released soon as well.

Nikki and Epic’s parents have set up a memorial fund in memory of both their sons. Donations will go toward a headstone celebrating both their lives. Complete details are available over at the forum on Nikki’s site. Please donate, if you can, and show your love and respect.

Much love and sympathy to everybody impacted by this terrible loss.

15 May 2005 - Good Things story in Billboard Magazine

Nikki Sudden and others directed my attention to a new article at Billboard.com covering the imminent release of Good Things on May 24 through the DBK Works label. There is a short interview with Nikki on the site. No details yet on where to order the album once it’s released, but likely it’ll be available on Nikki’s Big Store as well as through the label, and places like Amazon.com.

A band called Mary Jane’s Revenge has covered one of Epic’s songs, “Baby I Love You.” You can hear Real Audio clips of their songs at their web site.
